290,267. International Nickel Co., (Assignees of Coyle, F. B.). May 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Alloys.-A white or mottled cast iron has added to it in the ladle, after it has been tapped from the furnace, one or more of aluminium, silicon, nickel and manganese to induce the formation of graphite and produce a grey cast iron of high tensile strength. In three examples the additions comprised 0.5 per cent aluminium, 0.75 per cent silicon or 0.25 per cent silicon. 1.25 per cent nickel, about 0.5 per cent manganese being added in each example. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 253,402.
