Abstract

287,617. Wardle, A. E. Dec. 21, 1926. Frictionally-seated lids and covers.- In a closure for cartons, boxes, jars, &c., in which a projection on the flange or skirt of the lid fits into a groove around the upper part of the container, the flange or skirt on the lid or cover is formed or provided with a layer or extra thickness of material to form an internal projection the upper edge of which is adapted to engage with the upper edge or part of the groove on the container. A flanged disc 4 is secured within a ring 6 by an inturned bead 7 and the lower edge 8 of the ring is turned inwards and upwards to adapt it to fit into a groove 1 around the container neck and engage the underside of the lip 2. The upper part of the lip 2 is tapered to facilitate the application of the cover. The cover may be applied to a milk bottle which ma.y be formed to receive the usual closing disc as well as the cover.
