Abstract

203,971. Boutle, G. T. Dec. 14, 1922. Lever lids; sealing-devices for lids. - Hollow-ware containers having a neck provided 'with a bead adapted to engage a capsule are closed by a lever-lid 6 which is retained in position against an upwardly-facing abutment 2 by a capsule 5 which engages the bead 4 at the mouth of the container. As shown, the top of the neck is enlarged and flared outwardly and the lid is formed with a portion 7 of reduced diameter which frictionally engages the neck of the container. Means such as an inward projection 10 are provided on the lid 6 to facilitate its removal. In a modification, the abutment is formed as an internal bead in the neck of the container.
