Abstract

284,634. Voglsamer, P. Feb 1, 1927, [Convention date]. Fixed-chamber apparatus. - A concrete &c. mixer is provided with means for feeding measured quantities of water to the mixing drum, the means comprising a cylinder of variable capacity, disposed at a higher level than the mixing drum, pipes connecting the cylinder to an elevated tank and the drum, interconnected valves in the connecting pipes, and a vent pipe extending upwardly from the top of the cylinder. The volume of the cylinder 7 may be adjusted by means of a piston 8 operated by a screw 9, a pointer 12 and scale 11 indicating the adjustment, or the vessel may be made of telescopic parts the joint between which is rendered tight, after adjustment, by means of a packing ring 25, Fig. 3, clamped between flanges 21, 22. The cylinder, fitted with a vent pipe 20, is charged and discharged through pipes 14, 16 fitted with cocks 15, 17 connected by a rod 18 and arranged so that when one is open the other is shut.
