Abstract

283,811. Lindley, H. Sept. 5, 1927. Rod couplings and joints; tapered spigot-andsocket joints.-The adjacent end of fishing rod parts are provided with ferrules 1, 2, Fig. 1, held together by a coupling nut 5, which engages a collar 7 on the ferrule 1 and screws onto the ierrule 2, and having engaging tapered spigot and socket portions 8, 3. The portions 8, 3 are tapered to about 6‹ included angle, while the length thereof is made equal to about three times the greatest diameter. The ferrule is also provided with a second collar 9 for engagement by the nut 5 during uncoupling. A modification is shown in Fig. 2.
