Cutting and slicing vegetables. - Roots pass from a hopper 1 on to a drum 3 provided with teeth or spiked 6 by which they are disintegrated with a scraping or tearing action, falling into a container placed below the machine. The drum comprises a framework of bearers 4 of hardwood covered with metal plating 5. The teeth may consist of frost nails driven through holes in the metal plating into the wooden bearers 4.
