Abstract

281,275. Compagnie pour la Fabrication des Compteurs et MatÚriel d'Usines Ó Gaz. Nov. 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Signalling over power circuits. - Polyphase signalling currents of musical frequency are superimposed on power circuits distributing polyphase low frequency currents by transformers, the arrangement being such that the currents of power frequency fed to the signalling generator, and vice-versa, are substantially reduced or eliminated. In three-phase systems, three three-phase transformers may be so connected that the sum of the three phases of power frequency is fed to each winding of the signalling generator and vice-versa, the transformers being balanced so that the resultant sum is practically zero. In the arrangement shown, three-phase signalling current from the leads' 40, 41, 42 is superimposed on three separate feeders A, B, C from the three-phase bus-bars 1, 2, 3. The leads 4, 5, 6 of each feeder include the secondary windings of three-phase transformers such as 13, 14, 15, the primaries of which are connected across the leads 40, 41, 42. The leads 40, 41 are connected across the transformer 13 of feeder A, across the transformer 18 of feeder B, and across the transformer 20 of feeder C, and the leads 40, 42 and 41, 42 are similarly connected to the other transformers, so that the bus-bars 1, 2, 3 are practically at equal potentials as regards the signalling currents, and conversely the leads 40. 41, 42 are at equal potentials as regards the power currents. In case the system becomes unbalanced, circuits tuned to the signalling frequency and power frequency may be connected across the leads 1, 2, 3 and 40, 41, 42 respectively. The currents of power frequency led to the signalling generator may be further limited by the employment of transformers of the air-gap type which act efficiently for current of signalling frequency but not for currents of power frequency. Further limitation of interference may be obtained by condensers connected in series with the primaries of the superimposing transformers.
