Abstract

278,562. Krichbaum, W. F. Jan, 10, 1927. Pressure - regulating valves. - A pressureregulating valve of the kind controlled by a diaphragm actuated auxiliary valve adapted to control the supply of high pressure to the main actuating cylinder has the auxiliary valve located within a member which seats in an opening in the floor of the diaphragm chamber leading to a high pressure cavity formed in the bonnet. The main valve 6 which is urged to its seat by a spring 7 is coupled to an actuating piston 10 by a spindle 9 and is surrounded by a strainer 49 held between the valve seat 5 and a screwed cap 8. The auxiliary valve 24 which is actuated bv a diaphragm 28 subject to outlet pressure admitted through conduits 45, 46 and adjustably loaded by a spring 30 is housed in a member 21 screwed into the bonnet 14 so as to leave a chamber 19 communicating with the high pressure side of the valve through conduits 35, 36. The auxiliary valve is urged towards its seat by a. spring 26 and is surrounded by a strainer 47. The auxiliary valve spindle 25 is reduced in diameter immediately above the valve member so as to form an annular chamber connected by inclined passages 40, 41 to a circular passage 42 formed partly in the bonnet and partly in the member 21 and connected by vertical passages with the space above the main piston. The chambers adjacent the strainer are provided with cleaning openings 50, 52 closed by screwed plugs.
