Abstract

Bodies; hoods and weather screens. - Road vehicles such as omnibuses, char-a-bancs &c. having folded hoods and side windows are provided with channel members in the body sides secured to the chassis or the cross bearers of the body in which channel members slide pillars which carry the hood-supporting rails and are secured to the windows or to frames adapted to accommodate the windows. In one form the channel members 4, Figs. 3, 4, 6, and 7, are provided with two channels 5, 6 the intermediate members, Fig. 6, being double and the end pillars, Fig. 7, being formed as shown. Within the channels 6 are arranged the vertically sliding pillars 7 secured at the top 8 to the cantrails along which the hoop-sticks 22 are arranged to slide. As shown in Fig. 4, the pillar 7 is secured to a member 10 adapted to receive the window and the pillar is assisted to rise by means of a spring 14. The sides, and in some instances the top, of the windows are provided with flexible tubing 12 adapted to close the space between the windows when in raised position. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the members 4 are provided with split tubular members 26 within which slide the pillars 7 secured to the windows.
