Bodies; weather screens.- A body column for road vehicles is divided into two portions, one directly secured to the chassis side-members and the other quite separate from the first and adapted to be removably secured thereto and provide guides for the door windows. The lower portion 1, Fig. 2, is tubular, is secured to the chassis member 3 by a bracket 11, and serves as the hinge-pillar for the front and rear doors of the vehicle. The upper portion 2 is of the cross-section shown in Fig. 5 and is provided with a foot 22 adapted to slide under lugs 23 on the top of portion 1 and be there secured by means of a clamping-plate 26. When it is desired to house the upper portion 2, it is removed, reversed, and inserted into the tubular part of the lower portion 1 and clamped by means of the foot 22, lugs 23, and clamping-plate 26. The portion 2 is provided with window grooves 19 having anti-rattling springs 21. The vehicle is provided with a column on each side interconnected by transverse members 7, 8.
