Abstract

274,670. Wilson, F. M. Sept. 11, 1926. Control mechanism. - In Bowden and like control devices for use on motor cycle etc; handle bars &c., the cable b is secured to a drum, sleeve or the like a attached to or forming part of a twist grip sleeve a<1> and therefrom is led over a guide pulley c, the axes of the guide pulley and rotary sleeve being at right angles. The two axes may be in the same plane, the guide pulley being mounted on a bolt passing through the handle bar. In the form shown, however, the pulley c is offset, being mounted in conjunction with a second, independent Bowden control device e upon a bolt clamping a supporting bracket g<1> to the handle bar d, an adjustable retaining spring being provided under the cover washer g<2>. The twist grip sleeve may be controlled in position by a spring k, Fig. 3. It may also rotate between stops and be provided with a pointer moving over a scale to indicate extent of throttle opening &c.
