Abstract

272,201. Ducart, G. June 4, 1926. Iron-heating stoves.-A gas-heater for curling- irons comprises, in a single unit, one or more heating-tubes for holding the irons, a gas burner and a thermostat for controlling the gas supply to the burner. The construction shown comprises end plates 1, between which are mounted an outer casing 2, the heating-tube 3, the burner 4, and a thermostat comprising a tube 5 containing a rod 7 of relatively inexpansible material. A sleeve 6 encloses the thermostat and heating- tube 3. The device for controlling the gas supply comprises a cylindrical body 8 to which gas is supplied by a pipe 9. The gas passes through apertures 20 in a cup 18, and thence through apertures 14 in a block 11, the latter apertures being closable by a valve 16 which, until the desired temperature is attained, is held open by a rod 12 forced by a spring 22 into contact with the end of the rod 7. The expansion of the tube 5 allows the rods 7, 12 to move to the left, closing the valve 16; a reduced supply of gas then passes to the burner through apertures 21 in the valver and a groove 12' in the rod 12. The temperature of operation is controlled by a screwed knob 19 which, on rotation, displaces longitudinally the cup 20, and with it the block 11, and so alters the position of the seating of the valve 16.
