844,015. Thermally-actuated valves. MAIN WATER HEATERS Ltd. Jan. 4, 1957 [Jan. 4, 1956], No. 26672/58. Divided out of 825,746. Class 135. A gas valve for a gas-fired water heater, of the kind actuated by a thermal bellows filled with vapour or vaporizable liquid and responsive to changes of water temperature, comprises a single metal bellows 50 arranged in a compartment 51 separate from the water heater through which compartment heated water from the heater is arranged to flow, the compartment being formed with or having secured thereto a a gas valve casing 54 containing a closure member 55 having a stem or push-rod 56 which extends through a gland in a wall between the valve casing and the compartment containing the metal bellows, and a spring 70 associated with the closure member so as to urge it away from a valve seat and maintain the stem or push rod in abutting relationship with the end wall of the bellows.
