Abstract

271,844. Leroy, J. E. J. May 29, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 166,142. Stuffing - boxes, substitutes for; packing, metallic.-In the packing described in the parent Specification the notched discs 11, which form labyrinth packings, are each formed in two or more parts held together by a garter spring 14. The split packing-rings are replaced by segmental packing-rings 15 relative rotation being prevented by pins 18. Each ring is compressed by a spring 17 or the pair may be surrounded by a segmental ring compressed by a spring. Each container ring consists of a halved disc 1 fitted into a recess in the end of an outer ring 2. The packing abuts at one end against a washer 5 and, at the other end, is pressed axially by a Belleville washer or other spring 8 confined between washers 7, 9.
