Folding-seats; sliding seats; seat adjustments; bedsteads convertible into seats.-A folding seat for automobiles comprises at each side two jointed quadrilateral frames, so arranged that the seat proper can be folded into an approximately vertical position, with the seat back folded against it. The frames a, b, which carry the back 6 and seat 8 respectively, are pivoted to a triangular link 1. A sliding shoe C carries a pivoted member 14 and the bars of the frame b are pivoted at 15, 16. The movement of the member 14, and also the inclination of the back 5, 6, is limited by set-screws 20, 21, and the seat may slide on rails 10, and be locked in adjusted position thereon, by means of the plate 26, screws 24, 25 and balls 27. The back member 5 may be disengaged from the bolt 23, and lowered, as shown in Fig. 4, to form a couch.
