Abstract

Doors, wagon and like.-In order to facilitate top loading or unloading of a vehicle, the cover or roof is formed with fixed end parts 2 and a divided intermediate part 3 of which the separate portions are arranged first to move away from one another and then to cant so as to lie along the ends of the vehicle. In the construction shown, the part 3 is divided centrally and the two portions, which may be moved simultaneously by a common operating mechanism. are provided with rollers 7 running on rails 6 on the end parts 2. At the completion of the sliding movement the closed ends 11 of slots 10 provided in plates 9 attached to the sliding members are adapted to engage roller bearings 12 mounted on the ends of the vehicle, and the canting movement begins. The end parts 2 instead of being rigidly fixed may be arranged to cant with the sliding parts 3 at the completion of the sliding movement. Angle-irons 8 or similar weather-excluding members are provided at the meeting joints of the relatively movable parts. The cover or roof parts 2, 3 may be extended downwardly to any extent to form the whole or part of the sides, or the vehicle may be provided with drop or removable sides.
