Abstract

116,743. Scott, J. June 13, 1917. Doors for passenger vehicles.- Sliding doors for tramway cars, railway coaches, or the like are provided at the top with a rack track A, Fig. 1, which engages two or more rollers D running on a fixed rack C. The tracks may be built up of three strips of steel or be single castings, the centre portion of each being toothed and the side portions plain; the rollers have corresponding plain shoulders D<2>. A groove F is cut on the top edge of the door, and pieces G of fibre or like material are secured to the, track C and engage the groove. Stops E limit the travel of the door. For heavy doors, two or more racks or a double set of tracks may be used. The tracks may be inclined so that the doors close one way by gravity. A similar arrangement of tracks and rollers may be applied to the bottom edge of the door instead of or in addition to the top tracks. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 4047/09, [Class 20 (iii), Doors &c.].
