Rotary furnaces.-An iron, rotary retort 1 for the manufacture of sodium peroxide is supported on hollow trunnions 2 and is heated by introducing gas flames or hot gases into the space between the retort and the metal casing 9. The casing has openings with which a manhole door in the retort may be aligned.
