Abstract

264,269. Potter, W. H. Oct. 30, 1925. Wire ropes; with short lengths of protective sheathing; made by special method of forming.- An armoured grommet, for use in towing or as a sling, is formed by making a ring B of a portion of a length of wire rope A and thereafter winding the remainder of the rope about the ring, the ends C of the rope being secured to the ring by brazing &c. Solid eyes or armourings D, Fig. 3, may be threaded on the strand B and the grommet formed within the armouring, or alternatively thimbles, sheave tubes, &c. may be placed upon the formed grommet. Specification 214,472 is referred to.
