Abstract

262,128. DestrÚe, J. Nov. 27, 1925, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-The extractor is arranged to engage an internal lip 4 in the hollow base 3 of a cartridge case. The breechblock 5 may have a reduced part 7 fitting inside the gun barrel 8 and a tapered extension 10 fitting into the hollow 3 in the base of the cartridge. The extractor hook may be constituted by a lateral projection 12 on a firing pin 11 struck by a hammer 20. When the breech-block is retracted, the firing pin is moved sideways by a spring 21 to bring the hook 12 into engagement with the lip 4 of the cartridge case, which is then extracted by the engagement of a stop 17 on the breech-block with the tail 16 of the firing pin. A spring 22 between these parts afterwards retracts the firing pin. The cartridge magazine 19, Fig. 4, has projections 18 for ejecting the cartridge upwards when it is fully extracted; and the lower part of the breech-block 23 rides in the mouth of this magazine to feed a fresh cartridge into the gun barrel. In a modification, the firing pin is actuated by a coiled spring, and is moved sideways by a cam to cause engagement of the extracting hook with the cartridge.
