259,740. Fairbairn Lawson Combe Barbour, Ltd., and Kirk, B. Sept. 19, 1925. Carding-engines.-A carding-engine for flax, hemp, jute, &c. comprises a pair of endless card sheets A, B travelling at a comparatively slow relative speed. The material is fed over a plate D to feed rollers E, F or by a conveyer to. a roller and plate. The toothed roller F is stripped by a roller G. The worker sheet B is provided with a stripper H. The carded material is removed by rollers J or by a doffer. The sheets A, B are mounted on endless chains provided with rollers a<1>, b<1> running on guides a<2>, b<2> The lower sheet can be adjusted relatively to the upper sheet by screws b<3>. The chains pass over adjustable sprockets and are driven by gearing from a change gear C.
