Abstract

259,075. Cummins, E. Dec. 30, 1925. Pocket and like knives.-A sheath knife for seamen's use comprises a blade d and marline spike e in one piece, pivoted at c between handle members b, b<1> the spike being accommodated in the handle when the blade is in use, and vice versa. The parts are retained against rotation in one direction when in use by the hand, rotation in the other direction being prevented by the spike bearing against the bottom of its recess in the handle, or by a projection f on the blade engaging a notch g in one handle member. The pivoted portion at n may be of wedgeshape to give frictional resistance against movement. A can-opener j may be pivoted at c<1>, and provided with a pin k forming a fulcrum in use, and the handle may have a ring or shackle c<2>. The back m of the blade may be in the form of a file for cutting. wire rope &c.
