Mounting spare wheels on vehicles.-In a spare wheel support of the type comprising a truncated conical part 3, Fig. 3, having a conical bearing surface 4 to engage the part 11 of the wheel hub 10, and a part 5 to engage the interior of the hub 10, the part 5, as shown in Fig. 2, has the cross-sectional form of a segment of a circle situated above the horizontal plane through the axis of the support and subtruding an angle of less than 180‹ at the centre, so as to enable the wheel to be disengaged from a recess 18 in the running board &c. of the vehicle by raising it and at the same time inclining it outwards so as to clear the support. The wheel is secured to the support by a screw stud 13, which is adapted to engage a chamfered threaded hole 7 in a part 6 of the support and is provided with a cap 12 engaging a conical surface 17 on the hub 10.
