Abstract

1285311 Mounting hubs on shafts VOLVO AB 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25601/71 Heading F2U A wheel &c. hub 6 is mounted on an axle 1 by spaced bearings 9, 10 and is provided adjacent the outer bearing with an inwardly directed flange 19 having an internal diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of the opposed axle portion, so that in the event of bearing failure the flange engages the bearing race to prevent detachment of the hub from the axle. As shown flange 19 is integral with the hub but it may be in the form of a separate ring mounted between the bearing race and an internal rib on the hub, Fig. 2 (not shown).
