Abstract

257,062. Croad, A. K., (Snow Motors Inc.). July 9, 1925. Declutching for steering.-In motor vehicles driven by rotating helical blades for travelling on snow, two clutches 35 are mounted on the driving shaft 33, 34 and each is connected through spur gearing and a chain with one of the drums 21. For straight-ahead running the drums are driven at equal speed in opposite directions. Steering is effected by throwing out one or other of the clutches so that one drum is driven faster than the other. For this purpose a shifter 35g between springs is connected to the steering wheel 90 by links 35k, 66 and 67.
