Heating by electricity.-In a three-phase arc welding arrangement employing at least three adjacent electrodes having the respective voltages of the different phases, the distance between at least two electrodes is kept constant and so small that an arc persists between them independently of variations in their distance from the work. Asymetry in the primary windings of the supply transformer due to differences in the distances between or nature of the electrodes may be compensated for by using secondary voltages of different magnitude. The arrangement may employ a welding rod having two or more cores. Specification 245,776 is referred to.
