Abstract

A manual earth rod driver includes an auxiliary driving rod 7. An earth rod 6 is placed within an inner metal tube 2 of the manual earth rod driver, which is raised and lowered until the driver is in contact with the ground. The earth rod driver is removed, and the auxiliary rod is attached to the earth rod. The driver is again used to drive the earth rod to the required depth. This process can be repeated if further auxiliary rods are required. The manual earth rod driver may comprise an outer metal tube attached to the inner metal tube by a disc 3, handles 4, and strike plate 5.

Description

Manual Earth Rod Driver This invention relates to a device for installing earth rods into the ground.
When installing earth rods the method most used is 1 person holds earth rod and 2nd person strikes top with a sledge or club hammer until rod has reached required depth. This method of installing earth rods can cause injury and is very strenuous.
This invention will be a safer and speedier method.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 earth rod driver with handles Figure 2 auxiliary driving rod with coupler and driving bolt.
Figure 3 standard earth rod threaded each end Figure 1, a manual earth rod driver, circular outer metal tube No 1, with inner metal tube No.2. This welded to inside of outer tube with disc No 3. Driver handles No 4, striking plate No.5.
To install earth rods with this invention, place standard earth rod No6 into inner tube No2.
Stand driver and rod vertically, raise and lower driver until driver is in contact with ground, remove earth rod driver and attach auxiliary rod No.7 onto earth rod No.6, replace driver onto earth rod No.6, raise and lower driver until earth rod No.6 is at required depth, remove driver and auxiliary rod. If further rods are required, above procedure should be repeated.

Claims (4)
