[Class 68 (ii)] The manually operable device of the parent Specification for driving posts, stakes &c. into the ground is provided with an inner as well as an outer tubular or like member, the two being rigidly interconnected, while the inner member is closed at the top and is adapted to embrace and slide up and down the post. The lower end of the guiding tube may be provided with a releasable catch co-operating with a flange on the member being driven to prevent release at the upper end of 'the stroke. The inner tube 20, Fig. 1, and the outer tube 1 are rigidly connected at both ends, the upper end of the inner tube being closed by a block 2, while handles 3. as in the parent Specification, are connected to the outer tube at its upper and lower ends. The handles are formed of tubes flattened at their ends for surface attachment by welding to straps 5 fast to the outer tubular member. The handles may be provided at their upper ends with extension pieces. To prevent such apparatus entirely leaving the stake or a chisel member 21 or the like, a releasable catch 28, Fig. 5, at the lower end of the tube may engage a flange or shoulder 29 at the upper end of the stake &c.
