Crank-actuated pumps; oscillating-cylinder pumps; regulating delivery by opening and closing suction valves; valves and valve seats, arrangement of.-A constant-stroke pump comprises one or more cylinders 9 having pistons 12 connected to a common crank-pin 16 the time and arnount of delivery being determined by the angular position and length of one or more obturating members 19 mounted on the crank-pin and closing the inlets 14 to the cylinders. As shown, the pump is immersed in the liquid in a container 1 having an inlet 2, the cylinder 9 oscillates about a bearing 8 having an outlet channel 11, and the tubular piston 12 has a foot 15 held by a ring 20 on a sleeve 17 on the crank-pin 16. The inlet port 14 to the piston 12 is opened during part of each revolution of the crank 7 by a groove 18 around part of the sleeve 17 and is closed during the rest of the revolution by the solid part 19 between the ends of the groove. To allow adjustment of the time of delivery, the sleeve 17 may engage the crank-pin by means of fine serrations, and may be removed and replaced in the desired position. For adjustment of the amount delivered, the sleeve 17 may be in two relatively adjustable parts 21, 22, Fig. 4, enabling the effective length of the part 19 to he adjusted.
