Abstract

Tension arrangements. - The endless chain-tracks of a tractor are tensioned from within the tractor body by means including a spring which yields under a predetermined stress and so gives an indication that the track is sufficiently tensioned. The track passes over guide rollers A the axle B of which is adjusted in guides C by a screwed rod F moved axially by means of a rotatable nut H and worm gearing I. The worm I is rotated by a hand lever J and ratchet and pawl mechanism, and the hand lever is provided with a hinged arm K forced outwards by a spring L so that a pin M on the lever is shielded by the arm. When the track has been sufficientlv tensioned the force needed to move the hand lever causes the spring L to yield and thus allow the pin M to protrude and catch the hand of the operator. The rod F bears through spring washers e against a socket E carrying the axle B.
