Abstract
238,618. Brigg, W. A., Brigg, B. W., and Brigg, G. L., (trading as Brigg & Sons), and Hudson, C. W. May 22, 1924. Folding and collapsable seats. -In a walking-stick seat of the kind having oppositely disposed hinged members 6, 7, the height of the seat for a given over all length of stick is shortened by hinging to the outer ends of each or one of the members 6, 7, another member, forming the seat proper, adapted to fold down on the members 6, 7 when they are opened out. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3, a member 9 is hinged at 8 to the member 7 and is provided with a recess 10 adapted to engage the outer edge of the member 6 when the parts are folded. A fastening is provided to retain the members 6, 7 in the closed position. In a modification shown in Fig. 7 the member 9 is formed in two parts 23, 24 hingedly connected by links 26 hinged to the members 6, 7. The stick may be provided with a rubber ferrule and an interchangeable disc 20, a projection 22 on the member 7 serving to carry the spare member. When the disc 20 is of the kind in which a spring-pressed bolt 21 enters a groove in the spike, such groove is interrupted at intervals by stiffening strips, or the groove may be replaced by spaced holes.
