Covers; racks and the like; filing-compartments united by collapsible sides.-An expanding document file of the multiple-pocket type is provided with rigid back-pieces b, one attached to each cover of the file, in combination with one or more pairs of hinged links e, f connecting the backpieces, so as to form an extended stand for the file when open. The members b may be recessed at d to accommodate the links when folded, and the end g of the link e may be turned outwards to form a pivot joint between the links c, f. A spring i may be provided to assist the closing of the file.
