Abstract

233,303. Magnet-Werk Ges. Eisenach, (Assignees of Mrongovius, E., and Schweter, E.). May 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Variable-speed toothed gearing for vehicles is constructed with electromagnetic friction clutches. The clutches for the top or higher gear ratios are mounted on the first gear shaft while the clutches for the lower ratios are mounted on the second gear shaft. In the application to a locomotive, as shown, a Diesel engine A drives the first gear shaft 2 through an electromagnetic friction clutch 20. The wheels are driven through a three-speed gear arranged on the shafts 2, 11, bevel gearing 45, and coupling-rod gear 49. The electromagnetic clutch 7 for the high gear is mounted on the first gear shaft 2, while the clutches 8, 9 for the two lower gears are mounted on the second shaft 11. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to Specification 222,153, but this reference does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
