Abstract

233,222. Dehn, F. B., (Budd Manufacturing Co., E. G.). Sept. 15, 1924. Bodies.-In motor vehicles the body sills are connected by cross-members and are longitudinally straight, the body shell having an inwardly extending flange at the lower longitudinally curved side edges of the body secured to the bottom of each sill and the whole being secured to the chassis frame members. The body sills 19, Fig. III, which extend from the front of the vehicle to the front of the rear seats, are straight and rest upon the straight chassis members 10, Figs. I and III, while the lower portions of the tonneau, side, and cowl panels 13, 15, 14 are longitudinally curved and provided with inturned flanges 20 secured to the body sills 19 and upwardly turned at the inner edge. The body sills may have horizontal flanges 23 which co-operate with the threshold strips 25 to support the floor boards 26.
