Washing - machines with closed or enclosed rotary receptacles. - The inner perforated cylinder 5 is rotatably mounted on a gear segment 11 pivoted at 12 to the stationary casing 2 and operated from a drive-shaft 19 through bevel gear 18 and a worm 14 so that the cylinder may be swung bodily from the casing. A projection 21 from an arm 20 carried by the segment works in a slot 22 in a counterweighted cover 3 of the casing so that such cover is opened or closed according to the position of the cylinder. A perforated plate 9 - operated by a lever 10 is provided for discharging the clothes from the cylinder through the door 7 when the cylinder is in the position shown in Fig. 2.
