Abstract

230,658. Scott, D. April 23, 1924. Doors, wagon.-In a railway or like freight car the sliding doors 5, Fig. 1, are arranged to run on a track 7 arranged above the upper edge of the door opening, the lower edges of the doors are held' in their open or closed positions by means of hinged clamping plates 12, Fig. 5, retained in their upward position by turnbuttons 14 on the car body and by resilient strips 16 on the doors provided with holes engaging over studs 15 on the plates 12, additional hinged plates 21, Fig. 4, abutting against the side edges of the doors further secure the doors in their closed position by co-operating with pierced resilient strips 20 on the doors, while lugs 18 on the sides of the car body also engage the strips 20 to serve as additional means for maintaining the door in its open position.
