Locomotives, internal-combustion engine and steam, of compound or articulated construction. - A combined steam and internal-combustion engine locomotive comprises a steam generator vehicle a and a separate vehicle b carrying the steam cylinders d and an internal-combustion engine e<1>, e<2>. The internalcombustion engine may have only one group of cylinders, or there may be two groups e<1>, e<2>, as shown, driving opposite sides of a double bevel gear-wheel k<2> on a shaft m geared to another shaft l driving the track wheels.
