Alternating - c u r r e n t motors; windings. - An asynchronous motor is provided' on one of its members, preferably the stator, with a main winding S<1>, and an auxiliary winding S<2> connected to a commutator C provided with polyphase brushes B connected to two windings R<1>, R<2> on the other member, the windings R<1>, R<2> being joined together through a predetermined electrical angle by connectors D so that they are partially in opposition to one another. The windings S<1>, S<2> may be inductive or non-inductive and the auxiliary winding may have a fractional pitch. The auxiliary winding acts as a reactance at starting which decreases in value as the motor speeds up.
