Abstract

225,006. Drummond, A. Sept. 26, 1923. Reciprocating-saw machines.-A reciprocating- saw such as a log-cutting saw is driven through mechanism by means of which the stroke can be varied during the sawing operation. For this purpose the saw is driven by a lever F pivoted at f and connected by a link J with a block k mounted on an arm K which rocks about a pivot k<1> and is constantly oscillated by the driving motor (not shown) through a belt d, crank-disc L and connecting-rod l. The block k slides along the arm K and is adjusted thereon by a hand lever M to alter the stroke from the maximum, in the position shown, to zero or a predetermined minimum. The saw frame mav be of tubular construction, as described in Specification 199,303.
