Abstract

222,980. Thrutchley, W. F. July 17, 1923. Spray carburettors.-The nozzle comprises an inner fuel tube 8 and an outer tube 4, the inner tube being provided with air inlets 18 and with mixture outlets 26. During normal running, when the well 21 has emptied, air admitted at 22 passes through the inlets 18 to the fuel tube, the rich mixture is drawn through the outlets 26 into the air stream between the tubes, and is discharged into the main air current through an annular outlet 7. The fuel is controlled by an adjustable needle valve 14. A slow-running nozzle 25 supplied from the well 21 by a tube 23 is provided. In a modification, the fuel tube is provided with an axial outlet in addition to the outlets 26, in which case part of the rich mixture issues direct from the end of the tube. In further modifications, the fuel tube is shorter than the outer tube, and is either closed or open-ended.
