Registering duration of speeds defined by limiting values.- The running time of a vehicle is registered upon trip and total counters driven from the vehicle under the dual control of a clockwork and a speed sensitive element. The time counters are actuated by an arm P<2> mounted upon a spindle P<3> adapted to be rotated by the vehicle through a worm B, worm wheel D and a friction coupling D'. The rotation of the spindle is under the control of an escapement P oscillated by a cam X<2> rotated from a shaft L. When the speed sensitive mechanism is in motion, the shaft L is slid endwise bv means of a lever K so as to have driving connection at M with the minute wheel of the clockwork. Consequently the shaft makes one rotation per minute and allows movement at the same rate to spindle P<3> and the arm P<2>. A drum O graduated in seconds is mounted at the end of shaft L and may be zeroized by means of the button S<1> and gearing S, R. The clockwork or its spring may be energized by the vehicle through the worm B, worm wheel C and friction coupling C<1>. There may be combined in the one instrument in addition to the time counters, a time-piece, speed indicator and trip and total odometers. The clockwork may be fitted with the overwinding-preventing means described in Specification 222,773, [Class 139, Watches &c.].
