Abstract

Maximum-speed indicators.-The maximumspeed hand of a speedometer is automatically released from its maximum position and returned to a position coincident with the speed-indicating hand after the vehicle &c. has travelled a predetermined distance. On the driven shaft 2 is mounted a centrifugal disc 13 which sets the indicating hand 20 through a collar 15 which engages a pin 16 on a toothed sector 17, the latter driving the pointer spindle 19 through gearing. The maximum-speed hand 26 is mounted on a sleeve 24 surrounding the spindle 19, and is carried forward by a pin 27 on the hand 20. It is held in its forward position, until a predetermined distance has been travelled, by a pawl 31 on a rocking lever 30 engaging a toothed wheel 25 on the sleeve 24. The lever is rocked by a spring 35 when a projection 32 snaps into a recess of a toothed-wheel 29. This wheel is mounted on one of the spindles 10 of the mileage register train, which is driven by the shaft 2. Restraining springs 22, 28 are provided for the pointers.
