Abstract

The brake requires a disc, e.g. fixed to a vehicle drive shaft, and electromagnets mounted adjacent the disc so that energising the electromagnets exerts a braking force on the disc.

Description

SPECIFICATION Description of newton linier brake It works by replacing asbestos with reversible polarity magnets. Controlled by twin potentiometers.
Replacing brake pedal. These are fixed to gear boxes or differentials or replacing caliper assemblys. the drive shafts or discs are fixed opposing polarity magnatised.
When voltage is passed to electro magnets it slows down to full stop. Drive shafts, so stopping a vehicle.
Electrical energy could be provided by independent wiring system. Coming from 1. battery or twin output alternator.
1. This new type of breaking system. My invention will completely replace all forms of asbestos incorpo rated breaking systems.
2. The system will be able to be fitted to cars all H.G.V. vehicles and any vehicle that involves drive shafts by traction.
3. Other applications include invalid cars lifting equipment and rail transport.
4. Being maintenence free it will greatly increase the period between servicing of all these vehicles.
5. There are no moving parts on the installation it is all on linear magneticfields.
6. The only two mechanical partsarethetwotwin potentiometers. Controlling power to the reversible electro magnets.
The accompanying drawing shows a side elevation on the left and an end elevation on the right. Reference numeral 1 indicates "linear disc, replacing brake assembly mounted to drive shafts, or drive shafts" or "fixed polarity disc or shaft depending on application." Reference numeral 2 indicates "controlled electro reversible magnets, replacing callipers, or gearbox or diff. mounted". Reference numeral 3 indicates "drive shaft centre". Reference numeral 4 indicates "fixed magnetic field." CLAIMS A new form of braking which utalises metals comprising of electro magneticforces not friction materials. Tocontrol braking of all moving vehicles.
Being of magnetic forces it should notwearout. The drawing originally filed was informal and the print here reproduced is taken from a later filed formal copy.
The c laims were filed later than the filing date within the period prescribed by Rule 25(1) of the Patents Rules 1982.
This print includes a schedule of textual matter from the originally filed informal drawing.
