Class 103(1) [Also in Group XXXV] A vehicle eddy current braking device comprises a radially grooved rotor located between two electromagnets the energizing current of which is varied by a rheostat controlled by a wheel brake pedal 10 so that the rotor inertia is reduced as the pedal 10 is moved forward through the angle COD. As the pedal 10 is first moved through the angle BOD the eddy current braking device produces a moderate braking action and as the pedal 10 is moved through the angle COD the effect of the eddy current braking device becomes smaller until finally, when the pedal is in the angle DOE, it is completely ineffective, the pedal 10 being then near the end of its displacement corresponding to maximum application of the wheel brakes.
