Abstract

215,063. Hawkes, C. J. Jan. 27, 1923. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - Air for use as a fuel injection medium is abstracted during the compression stroke from the working cylinder, and led through a cooler C to a reser. voir D whence it passes to a compressor E delivering through another cooler F to a high pressure reservoir G, from which the air for injection is drawn. A controlling valve H is provided in the pipe delivering into the cooler C. In a multicylinder engine the air may be drawn from all or any of the cylinders, and supplied to a single compressor. The reservoir D. and cooler F may be omitted, and the reservoir G may be designed to act also as a cooler, in which case the cooler F is dispensed with.
