Abstract

Tubular metal components are designed in a number of different forms to provide a jointing assembly to enable the erection of timber component buildings to be simply carried out by unskilled labour. As an example, unit M1 consists of six mild steel tubes of rectangular and square section welded together to form the joint between the horizontal roof ridge member and the roof support members forming the shaped end of one type of building. Other types of socket connect horizontal and vertical timber components together to form the basic structural frame into which standard panels may be inserted. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Connecting System for Sectional Conservatories and Other Timber Structures The intention of the connecting system is to provide a simple and flexible method of connecting the various elements of a sectional conservatory building, or other timber framed building.
It obviates the need for compiex joinery work normally required, and it is aimed at the handyman do it yourself market as well as professional contractors.
It consists of a number of different metal socket units made up of mild steel tubes welded together into which the timber elements are inserted. The design of each of these socket units is worked out to accommodate a wide variety of building shapes and sizes.
As an example, unit M1 consists of six mild steel tubes of rectangular and square section welded together to form a joint between the horizontal roof ridge member and the roof support members forming the shaped end of one type of building.
Other types of unit connect horizontal and vertical framing elements to each other and to roof support members, and vertical framing elements to the base.
The application relates to a method of building sectional conservatory buildings or other sectional framed buildings. The joining of the structural components is by means of specially shaped tubular steel socket sections which enable the components to be assembled together to form structural timber frames without the need of complicated joinery work. This enables the bulidings to be put together by unskilled labour using simple tools. This jointing system is what differentiates my system from any other. The socket sections are designed in a number of different forms allowing a large number of different shaped and sized buildings to be erected.
The pre-shaped ends of a varying number of timber structural frame members are inserted into the metal socket sections and screw fixed to form the basic framework into which standard panels are fixed.
The object of the application for a patent is to protect the use of the metal socket jointing system.
