Abstract

212,967. Mirrlees Watson Co., Ltd., and Dexter, W. A. Dec. 16, 1922. Condenser systems.-In a condenser system of the type in which condensate is drawn from a collecting-box 2 and passed by a pump 3 to a tank 5 communicating with the box 2 through a floatcontrolled valve 9 the tank 5 is closed so that an " artificial head " is produced in it by the pump 3 and it can be placed at any desired level. The water from the tank 5 passes through a Venturi or like meter 12 to a feed-heater 6 and thence to the feed pump 11. A thermostatically-controlled valve 15 returns overheated water to the condenser 1. The air-pump consists of a two-stage ejector 16. 16<1>, the steam from the first stage being condensed by water supplied from the tank 5 through a pipe 18<1>, the condensate being returned to the tank 2 through a pipe 19. The steam from the secnd stage is used to heat the feed-heater 6, and when condensed is passed to the condenser through a tank 22 and float-valve 23.
