Abstract

168,044. Kohler, C. Aug. 16, 1920, [Convention date]. Railway locomotives, steam.-A condensing plant comprises a three-way cock in the return pipe between the condenser and boiler whereby the condensed water may be pumped into a storage tank instead of the boiler when the latter is full, to prevent flooding of the condenser. The condensed water is withdrawn from the condenser 10 by a centrifugal pump 14 and fed either to the boiler through a pipe 18 or to a storage tank 24 through a pipe 23, a three-way cock 22 operated by a hand-lever 20 and link 21 being provided. The water in the tank 24 may be supplied to the boiler by an auxiliary pump or injector.
