Description
SPECIFICATION
Basket container structure particularly for display
racks and the like
The present invention relates to a basket container structure particularly for display racks and the like.
As is known, currently employed am-especially in general stores, shops, and selling stations in general basket containers which comprise essentially a central body, open at the top and partly also at the front, which is generally fabricated from welded wire and can be assembled in stacked sets for an improved utilisation of the available selling space.
Such prior basket containers have the disadvantage that they cannot be nested into one another, thereby their storage and transport are space-consuming and unavoidably reflect on the cost of the product.
In an attempt to obviate that drawback, basket containers have been made available commercially in which the lateral sides can be interconnected detachably, so as to enable several baskets to be nested within one another during transportation and for storage; however, the currently available types of known design are highly complex construction-wise, while the assembling oftheircomponent parts requires the application of skilled labour, as well as relatively long assembling times.
Thus, the invention sets out to eliminate such prior shortcomings, by providing a basket container struc- ture, whereby the component parts can be assembled together in a very quick and reliable fashion, while affordingthefacultyofsignificantly reducing space requirements forthe basket storage and inventory formation.
Within the above general aim, it is possible to arrange thatthe basket container structure according to the invention has its component parts, as comprising a central body and lateral sides, all formed from welded wire, associabletogether in a most rapid fashion and such asto afford a highly stable final assembly, thus preventing them from coming unwantedly apart.
It is further possible to arrange that the inventive basketcontainerstructure, owing to its peculiar construction, can give full assurance of being safe and reliable in use.
According to one aspect of the present invention, the above task and objects are achieved by a basket container structure, particularly for display racks and the like, comprising a central body open atthetop and partly open atthe front, with the ends of which there are detachably associated lateral sides, characterised in that each one ofsaid lateral sides has a front hook arranged for insertion, on the front ofsaid body, between side-by-side spaced apart bars defined by said body, and a rear hookfor insertion between said bars on the back of said body and for engagement with locking members.
Furtherfeatures and advantages will be apparent from the detailed description of a basket container structure particularlyfor display racks and the like, as illustrated byway of example and not of limitation in the accompanying drawing, where:
Figure 1 shows schematically a perspective ex
ploded view ofthe basket container structure accord
ing to the invention;
Figure 2 shows schematically the stacked arrange
ment and concurrent insertion ofthe central bodies;
Figure 3 shows schematically the steps of coupling one lateral sideto the central body;
Figure 4 is a perspective detail view of a lateral side as connected to the central body; and
Figure 5 shows the locking membersforthe rear hook.
Making reference to the cited drawing figures, the basket container structure particularly for display racks and the like, according to this invention, comprises a central body 1, which is formed from wire stock and has its top portion open and front portion at least partly open. More specifically, the central body 1, which is constructed from wire stock lengths laid side-by-side and held together by welded crosspieces, has a bottom portion 2 to which a back member 3 is connected which extends perpendicularlythereto, and a front portion 4 preferably sloping forward from the bottom.
Detachably secured to the ends of the cited central body 1 are lateral sides 10 which have a substantially complementary shape to the edges of the bottom, back member, and front member.
More specifically, provided on each lateral side 10 is a front hook 11 which is defined atthe ends of a cross-piece 12 provided on the lateral side 10, which front hook 11 can be inserted between spaced apart bars 15 laid side-by-side which are defined bythe central body 1 at its side ends.
The front hook 11 is shaped to overhang the front edge 20 of the lateral side, the front edge 20 being accommodated between the bars 15 atthe front ofthe body 1 and practically providing, in cooperation with the hook 11, an elastic bias which allowsthefront hook 11 to snap overone ofthe bars 15.
On the rear portion of the lateral side 10, there is defined a rear hook 30 which may be provided at the other end of the cross-piece 12 itself which carries the hook 11, oralternatively, attheend of another cross-piece, also attached to the lateral side, this depending on the size ofthe lateral sides.
Thehook30,which extends perpendicularlytothe plane of lay ofthe lateral side 10, on the opposed side with respect to the front hook 11,can also be inserted between the bars 15 at the back member 3 of the central body 1.
To securethe rear hook 30, there are provided locking members which, in this particular case, would comprise a small plate 31 guided for sliding movement on the bars 15 and having a slot 32 with a widening bottom portion 33.
The widening bottom portion 33, which extends substantially perpendicularlyto the longitudinal extension ofthe slot 32, is sized such that it allows the rear hook 30 to pass therethrough. After the rear hook 30 has moved past the widening portion 33, the plate 31 will slide by gravity down, therebythe hook engages in the slot 32 which captivates it.
With the foregoing arrangement, itthus occurs that the rear hook can be locked in a very quick and secure fashion, and the possibility is afforded, where required, of quickly disassembling the basket by going through the above-described operations in the reverse order.
It will be appreciated from the above description thatthe invention achieves its objects, and in particu larthat a basket container structure has been provided which is made up of a central body and two lateral sides, in detachable association relationship, which can be interconnected quite rapidlywithoutthe use of any tools, while imparting the assembly with considerable stability, such that several baskets may be nested together in stacked relationship.
In practicing the invention, the materials used, as well as the dimensions and contingent shapes, may be any selected ones to meet the individual requirements.
