Double - bolt fastenings; latches, sliding.-A fastening for motor vehicle doors comprises a spring-pressed bolt 10<a> with hook-shaped end 17<a>, the upwardly directed finger 18<a> of which is engaged by an arm on a follower 19 mounted on a handle spindle 20. The movement of the follower is limited by an arm 26 thereon working between two stops 27, 28, and a spring 24 returns the follower to locking position. Two bolts may be used, operated by two followers on the same spindle, and the ends of the bolts may be bevelled on both sides, one to allow automatic action of the bolts, and the other to prevent rattling as the bolts wear. A spiral spring 14<a> or a coiled spring 15 acting on a nose 16 near the end of the bolt may be used.
